A pregnant woman in Madhya Pradesh was forced to walk eight kilometres on foot after an ambulance could not reach her due to the absence of a road, and the baby did not survive.

A pregnant woman from a remote area of Madhya Pradesh was left without timely medical assistance when an ambulance could not access the location because no road existed. Local residents, seeing the emergency, carried her on a makeshift stretcher for approximately eight kilometres to the nearest health centre.

The arduous trek delayed critical care, and the newborn was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Health officials have been notified of the incident and are expected to investigate the lack of basic infrastructure that impeded emergency response.

The case highlights the challenges faced by residents in poorly connected rural regions, where the absence of proper roads can turn a medical emergency into a fatal tragedy.

Local authorities have been urged to prioritize road construction and improve ambulance accessibility in remote villages to prevent similar outcomes in the future.
