The government has launched a WhatsApp-based service that allows workers to obtain their complete Provident Fund details with a single message, simplifying access to pension information.
The Ministry of Labour has introduced a new WhatsApp-based portal that enables employees to receive their complete Provident Fund (PF) details with a single message. The service, which went live on 1 November, is part of the government's digital inclusion drive to make pension information more accessible.
To use the service, workers simply send a predefined keyword to a dedicated WhatsApp number. Within seconds, the system replies with a PDF containing the employee's PF balance, contribution history, and withdrawal options, eliminating the need to log into the EPFO portal or visit a local office.
Officials say the initiative will reduce paperwork and help workers, especially those in rural areas, to quickly verify their pension status. The service is available in Hindi and English and can be accessed from any smartphone.
A senior EPFO officer noted that the rollout is a step toward a fully digital pension ecosystem and that similar WhatsApp-based services could be extended to other employee benefits in the future.
