Meghalaya's Minister Marcuise N Marak has called for intensified watershed development as a key strategy to enhance sustainable livelihoods across the state.
Meghalaya Minister Marcuise N Marak addressed a press briefing, stressing the importance of watershed development for the state’s long‑term sustainability.
He explained that effective watershed management can improve soil fertility, increase water availability for agriculture and forestry, and help communities adapt to climate variability.
The minister urged state agencies to accelerate the implementation of existing watershed projects and to secure additional funding from central schemes.
