Chief Minister Conrad Sangma officially presented land title deeds to 17 families in Tura, Meghalaya, as part of a government drive to regularise land ownership.
During a ceremony in Tura, Meghalaya, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma handed over land pattas to seventeen families who had been awaiting formal title documents. The event was organised by the state government to address long‑standing demands for clear land records in the region.
The distribution forms part of the state’s broader land‑regularisation programme, aimed at converting informal or disputed holdings into legally recognised parcels. Officials said the move will help families secure credit, improve agricultural investment and reduce land‑related conflicts.
Family members expressed relief and gratitude, noting that the pattas will provide them with legal certainty and enable better planning for their livelihoods. The government reiterated its commitment to continue similar hand‑overs across other districts of Meghalaya.
