BSF and Punjab police recovered a kilogram of heroin, ICE, and opium, seized counterfeit notes worth Rs 1.98 lakh, and detained a drug smuggler during a joint operation in Amritsar.
Amritsar police, assisted by Border Security Force personnel, conducted a coordinated raid in areas bordering the India‑Pakistan frontier. The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately one kilogram of narcotics, including heroin, opium and other controlled substances, as well as counterfeit currency valued at Rs 1.98 lakh.
Investigators identified the seized cash as part of a larger counterfeit network operating across the border region. The joint team also apprehended a suspect believed to be involved in drug trafficking and smuggling of illegal currency.
Authorities said the arrest underscores ongoing efforts to curb cross‑border smuggling of drugs and fake money, and further investigations are underway to trace the source of the seized items.
