BJP accuses Congress of patriarchal bias, highlights Karnataka’s all‑male cabinet

The BJP rebuked the Congress for a recent comment on patriarchy, pointing to the fact that Karnataka’s state cabinet remains entirely male.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) publicly criticised the Indian National Congress after a party leader described certain policies as reflecting patriarchal attitudes. In its statement, the BJP argued that the Congress’s remark was hypocritical, given the composition of the Karnataka state cabinet.
Karnataka’s current council of ministers, appointed earlier this year, consists solely of men, with no female minister in the lineup. The BJP highlighted this all‑male roster as evidence that the Congress’s claim of championing gender equality lacks substance.
A BJP spokesperson said the party will continue to demand greater representation of women in state governments, urging the Congress to address the disparity before making gender‑related accusations. The issue adds to the broader political debate ahead of upcoming elections in the state.
