The Bihar government denied reports that the Student Credit Card scheme has reduced loan amounts, asserting that the scheme now offers greater financial support to students.
Patna, August 21 — The administration led by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has officially rejected circulating claims that the Bihar Student Credit Card scheme has lowered the loan amounts available to students. In a press briefing, officials emphasized that the current iteration of the scheme provides more generous financial assistance compared to earlier versions.
The Student Credit Card programme, launched by the state to facilitate higher‑education financing, offers interest‑free loans up to a predefined limit, along with flexible repayment options. State representatives clarified that recent policy adjustments have expanded the credit ceiling and simplified disbursement procedures, aiming to reach a larger pool of eligible students.
The government’s statement comes after social media posts suggested a cut in the loan component, prompting concerns among students and parents. Authorities urged the public to refer to official notifications for accurate information and assured that the scheme will continue to support meritorious candidates across Bihar.
