Bihar forms expert panel to revamp competitive exams, HC Justice Harish to chair

The Samrat Chaudhary-led Bihar government has set up a high‑level committee, headed by Patna High Court Justice Harish, to recommend reforms for state competitive examinations.
Patna, Bihar – In response to prolonged protests by aspirants over the conduct of various state competitive examinations, the Bihar government announced the formation of an expert committee on Wednesday. The panel will be chaired by Justice Harish of the Patna High Court, reflecting the administration's intent to bring judicial oversight to the reform process.
The committee is tasked with reviewing existing exam patterns, eligibility criteria, and administrative procedures. It will also examine grievances raised by candidates, including issues of transparency, scheduling, and fairness, and propose actionable recommendations to the state government.
Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary emphasized that the initiative aims to modernise the examination system and restore confidence among candidates. The panel is expected to submit its report within a stipulated timeframe, after which the government will consider implementing the suggested changes.
Stakeholders, including coaching institutes and student unions, have welcomed the move, noting that an independent review could address long‑standing concerns and improve the credibility of Bihar's recruitment processes.
