YouTube has removed several channels that were hosting AI‑generated songs with explicit content after an NDTV probe highlighted the issue.
YouTube announced the removal of multiple channels that were distributing songs created using artificial intelligence and containing explicit lyrics, following a probe by Indian news outlet NDTV.
NDTV's investigation identified several channels using AI tools to produce music with vulgar or sexual content, raising concerns over platform moderation and compliance with Indian regulations on obscene material.
In response, YouTube said it acted in line with its community guidelines and local laws, deleting the identified channels and warning others. The platform reiterated its commitment to monitor AI‑generated content more closely.
The move comes amid growing scrutiny of AI‑driven media on digital platforms in India, with regulators urging tech firms to curb the spread of harmful or indecent material.
