Youth Arrested for Defacing Gutka Sahib at Amritsar's Harmandir Sahib

Police in Amritsar have detained a young man accused of tearing pages from the sacred Gutka Sahib at the Golden Temple complex.
Amritsar police confirmed on Tuesday that a youth was taken into custody after allegedly tearing pages from the Gutka Sahib, the holy scripture kept at the Harmandir Sahib complex. The incident, which took place within the precincts of the Golden Temple, prompted immediate intervention by security personnel and temple authorities.
According to officials, the suspect was identified by temple volunteers and security staff who observed the act and reported it to the police. The youth was apprehended without resistance and handed over to the local police station for further investigation.
The police have launched a case under sections relating to vandalism of religious property and are conducting inquiries to determine the motive behind the act. No injuries were reported, and the damaged pages are being preserved as evidence.
Temple management expressed disappointment over the incident, emphasizing the sanctity of the Gutka Sahib and assuring devotees that security measures will be reviewed to prevent any recurrence.
