The West Bengal Special Task Force has detained a Jaish-e-Mohammed operative, Hamim Mondal, who allegedly plotted to target Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and disrupt a protest in Delhi.
The West Bengal Special Task Force (STF) arrested Hamim Mondal, an alleged operative of the militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed, on charges of planning an attack on Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. According to the investigation, Mondal intended to disguise himself in a police uniform to carry out sabotage activities.
Sources say that Mondal had been in contact with handlers based in Pakistan, exchanging instructions through encrypted messaging applications. The plot also involved disrupting a protest scheduled at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
The STF has confirmed that the arrest is part of a broader probe into the terror network’s links with Pakistan. Officials are continuing to investigate the full extent of the plot and any additional conspirators.
