West Bengal police have arrested a Bangladeshi citizen suspected of involvement in an illegal kidney‑transplant network and recovered a document listing payment rates for organs.

Police in West Bengal announced the arrest of a Bangladeshi national suspected of playing a key role in a cross‑border kidney‑trafficking syndicate. The suspect was taken into custody after investigators linked him to a series of illegal organ‑removal operations that targeted vulnerable patients in the state.
During the raid, officers recovered a handwritten "rate chart" that detailed the monetary amounts offered for kidneys of different ages and health conditions. The document is being examined as evidence of a structured pricing model used by the criminal network.
Authorities said the seizure provides a rare glimpse into the financial mechanics of organ‑trafficking rings and will aid prosecutors in building a case against the accused and any co‑conspirators. The investigation remains ongoing, with police probing possible links to other illegal transplant facilitators.
The West Bengal Crime Branch has urged the public to report any suspicious activity related to organ donation and reiterated that organ trade is a punishable offence under the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act.
