Jabalpur police reported that a young student was brutally stabbed on the night of Diwali while walking back from a temple with friends. According to eyewitnesses, the victim was ambushed on a village road and attacked with a knife.
Investigators say the assault was motivated by a longstanding personal feud between the victim and the accused. The assailants allegedly surrounded the group, seized the student and inflicted fatal injuries.
Following the incident, a swift police operation led to the arrest of three individuals believed to be directly involved in the murder. The suspects are currently in custody and are being interrogated for further details.
Authorities have launched a formal investigation to uncover the full extent of the rivalry and to determine whether additional persons were involved. The case underscores concerns about personal vendettas escalating into violent crimes during public celebrations.
