The state government has rolled out a comprehensive dengue testing initiative across West Bengal to curb the rising number of infections.
West Bengal is intensifying its fight against dengue after a sharp rise in reported cases over the past weeks. The state government has announced a statewide testing campaign that will deploy additional laboratories and mobile testing units in high‑risk districts.
Under the plan, public health centres will be equipped with rapid diagnostic kits, and private labs will be contracted to handle the increased workload. Health officials say the goal is to identify infections early and isolate patients to prevent further spread.
The campaign is part of a broader public health strategy that includes vector control measures such as fogging and community clean‑up drives. Health Minister Somenath Chatterjee emphasized the need for swift action, noting that early detection can save lives.
Officials expect the expanded testing capacity to reduce the time between symptom onset and diagnosis, thereby enabling quicker treatment and lowering the overall case fatality rate.
