In Uttarakhand, almost forty percent of madrasas listed in older records have been closed following the implementation of new norms, with only 30 institutions receiving official recognition.

The Uttarakhand government has announced that nearly 40% of madrasas recorded in its older registers have been shut down after the introduction of updated educational norms.

Only 30 madrasas have met the new criteria and received formal recognition, according to officials from the state education department.

The closures have left many students without a place to continue their studies, as several schools failed to meet infrastructure and curriculum standards required under the new guidelines.

Authorities have stated that they will work with affected families to provide alternative educational arrangements and support for the institutions that meet the norms.
