Shivraj Singh Chauhan, accompanied by Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, inspected flood‑affected farmland in Raghopur, Vaishali, using a boat and a tractor to gauge crop loss.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan arrived in the flood‑hit region of Raghopur in Vaishali district on Thursday, joining Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary for an on‑ground assessment. The leaders navigated the inundated fields by boat and later moved on a tractor to reach areas still submerged.

The visit focused on evaluating the extent of agricultural damage caused by the recent floods that have swamped large tracts of paddy and other seasonal crops. Both officials noted the severity of waterlogging and the potential loss of sowing windows for the upcoming season.

While no precise figures were released, the minister indicated that a detailed report on crop loss will be compiled and forwarded to the central government for relief measures. The assessment aims to expedite assistance to affected farmers and to plan for rehabilitation of the agricultural sector in the region.

The joint inspection underscores the government's intent to monitor disaster‑impacted zones closely and to coordinate relief efforts between state and central agencies.
