Two men were taken into custody by the Duduana‑Kuchaman cyber police after they lured victims with promises of buying antique coins and notes worth millions of rupees.
The Duduana‑Kuchaman cyber police arrested two suspects on Thursday in Rajasthan after a sting operation revealed a fraud ring that targeted victims with offers to purchase antique coins and banknotes for large sums.
According to police reports, the perpetrators used social media platforms to post fabricated listings of rare coins and notes, claiming they could be bought for up to 13 lakh rupees. Victims were persuaded to transfer money or hand over the items, only to find the offers were false.
The arrested men were identified through digital footprints left on the fake listings and were taken into custody at the Duduana police station. The cyber unit said the investigation is ongoing and that more arrests may follow if additional evidence is uncovered.
Victims have been advised to report any suspicious online offers to the cyber police and to verify the authenticity of antique items before making payments.
