TVK Calls for Complete Scrapping of NEET Exam, Stands Firm

✍️ Hindustan Times 🗓 22 Jul 2026, 12:05 PM 👁 2

The Tamil Nadu Vidhya Vidheya Kamaraj (TVK) party has demanded the complete abolition of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), citing concerns over its fairness and impact on medical aspirants.

The Tamil Nadu Vidhya Vidheya Kamaraj (TVK) party has formally demanded that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) be completely scrapped, arguing that the exam is unfair and disadvantages students from certain regions.

TVK spokespersons highlighted that the high cost of coaching and the perceived bias towards students from metropolitan areas undermine the exam’s objective of equal opportunity.

The central government has yet to respond, while other political parties have called for a review of the exam’s structure rather than outright abolition.

If the demand gains traction, it could force a re‑evaluation of the medical admission process across the country, potentially leading to alternative entrance pathways.

The party plans to file a formal complaint with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and will seek support from student associations nationwide.
