A high‑speed head‑on collision between a truck and a pickup on the Delhi‑Mumbai Expressway near Thandla, Jhābua, caused both vehicles to catch fire, killing the pickup driver on the spot.
On Friday night, a truck travelling at high speed met a pickup head‑on on the access road of the eight‑lane Delhi‑Mumbai Expressway near Thandla in Jhābua, Madhya Pradesh. The impact was severe enough to rupture fuel lines, and both vehicles burst into flames within minutes of the collision.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the fire was reported. The pickup driver, identified as Teru Khima Bhavar, was found unconscious and succumbed to burns before he could be evacuated. The truck driver survived with non‑life‑threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police have cordoned off the stretch of the expressway and are conducting a preliminary investigation to determine the exact cause of the head‑on collision, including whether speed or driver error played a role.
