The Tripura government has announced that six additional Eklavya Model Residential Schools will be inaugurated by November, expanding the state's network of tribal-focused residential schools.

The state of Tripura confirmed plans to add six more Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) to its education portfolio, with a target completion date before the end of November. The EMRS scheme, launched by the central government, is designed to provide high‑quality residential education to tribal children in remote areas.

Officials said the new schools will be spread across different districts to improve geographic coverage and reduce travel burdens for students from marginalized communities. Construction and staffing are already underway, and the administration expects the institutions to be fully operational by the stipulated deadline.

Education authorities anticipate that the expanded network will boost enrollment and learning outcomes among tribal youth, aligning with Tripura's broader goal of inclusive development. The move also underscores the state’s commitment to leveraging central schemes for regional upliftment.

The upcoming schools will follow the EMRS model of providing residential facilities, nutritious meals, and a curriculum that balances academic and cultural learning, aiming to bridge the educational gap faced by tribal populations.
