The Punjab Meteorological Department has announced a three‑day yellow alert as weather conditions are expected to deteriorate across the state.
The Punjab Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert on Monday, warning that weather conditions across the state will worsen over the next three days. The alert follows forecasts of increased cloud cover, heavy rainfall and strong winds in several districts, including Patiala, Ludhiana and Amritsar.
Authorities have advised residents to take precautionary measures, such as securing loose objects, avoiding non‑essential travel and staying updated with local advisories. Emergency services are on standby to respond to any incidents that may arise from the expected downpours.
The department emphasized that the yellow alert signals a moderate level of risk, and that a higher alert could be issued if conditions deteriorate further. No casualties or major disruptions have been reported so far.
Residents are urged to monitor official channels, including the state’s weather helpline and mobile alerts, for real‑time updates throughout the alert period.
The alert will remain in effect for three consecutive days, after which the department will reassess the situation and issue further guidance if necessary.
