Sri Lankan JVP leaders visit India to deepen ties with BJP

A senior team from Sri Lanka's Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) travelled to India with the aim of strengthening political ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The delegation met senior BJP officials in the capital, where both sides outlined a desire for greater engagement on bilateral issues. Discussions covered areas of mutual interest, including trade, cultural exchange and regional security, without committing to specific agreements. The JVP delegation emphasized its intent to support policies that align with India's strategic outlook, while BJP representatives welcomed the outreach as a step toward deeper Indo‑Sri Lankan cooperation.
