The Rajasthan government plans to install more than 5,000 CCTV cameras across its border districts as part of a crackdown on drug and weapon trafficking.
Jaipur – State officials announced a large‑scale surveillance drive aimed at curbing the flow of illicit drugs and firearms across Rajasthan's frontiers. The plan calls for the installation of over 5,000 closed‑circuit television cameras in key border districts, creating a continuous visual record of movement in these high‑risk zones.
The cameras will be positioned at major crossing points, checkpoints and known smuggling routes, linking to a central monitoring hub that will enable real‑time analysis by law‑enforcement agencies. The initiative is part of a broader security strategy that also includes increased patrols and intelligence sharing with neighboring states.
Authorities expect the heightened surveillance to act as a deterrent, making it harder for traffickers to operate undetected. The project, funded by the state budget, is slated for phased rollout over the coming months, with priority given to areas that have historically reported higher incidents of drug and weapon smuggling.
