Jaipur, Sept 15 — The Rajasthan government has tabled a draft Sports Policy for 2026 that includes the creation of a separate sports directorate. The new body will focus on scouting and developing young athletes between the ages of eight and fourteen, a demographic the state believes has been under‑served in existing talent‑identification programmes.
According to the policy draft, the directorate will coordinate with schools, district sports offices and existing academies to maintain a systematic registry of promising youngsters. It will also oversee age‑appropriate coaching, nutrition and medical support, thereby standardising training pathways across the state.
State officials indicated that the directorate will be operational within the next financial year, subject to budget approval.
