Rajasthan gears up for massive barricade after local body polls, over 10,000 candidates to be secured

Following the conclusion of Rajasthan's local body elections, authorities are arranging a large‑scale barricade and secure lodging for more than 10,000 candidates, with phone services to be switched off after voting ends.
The recent local body elections in Rajasthan have wrapped up, prompting the state administration to implement one of the largest security operations in the state's electoral history. Officials are setting up extensive barricades around polling stations and candidate residences to prevent any post‑poll disturbances.
More than ten thousand aspirants, including those from the BJP, Congress and independent ranks, will be moved to designated secure locations until the results are officially declared. The move aims to curb potential clashes and ensure a smooth transition from voting to result announcement.
In addition to physical security, the government has ordered a temporary suspension of mobile phone services in key areas once voting concludes. This measure is intended to limit the spread of misinformation and curb any coordinated unrest.
Election officials say the arrangements are being coordinated with local police, the state home department and the Election Commission of India. The focus remains on maintaining law and order while respecting the democratic process.
