During its 'Pure Food – Adulteration Fight' drive ahead of festivals, Rajasthan’s food department seized 535 kg of adulterated red chilli powder from two establishments in Didwana‑Kuchaman.
The Rajasthan Food Department, acting under its "Pure Food – Adulteration Fight" campaign aimed at ensuring safe consumption during upcoming festivals, conducted raids on two food outlets in the Didwana‑Kuchaman area. Inspectors discovered and confiscated a total of 535 kilograms of red chilli powder that was found to be adulterated.
The seized material is being sent to a state laboratory for detailed analysis to determine the extent of contamination and whether it meets the prescribed food safety standards. The department has warned that any establishment found violating the Food Safety and Standards Act will face strict penalties, including possible closure.
Authorities emphasized that the crackdown is part of a broader effort to protect consumers from health hazards associated with sub‑standard spices, which are widely used in Indian kitchens, especially during festive cooking.
Further action will depend on the lab results, after which the department may initiate legal proceedings against the owners of the implicated businesses.
