Residents of Ali village intensified their demonstration after authorities ordered the clearance of roughly 1,800 houses and shops.
Ali village saw a surge in protests on Tuesday as local authorities moved to vacate about 1,800 residential and commercial premises. Residents gathered at the main junction, chanting slogans and demanding a halt to the demolition drive.
Police units were deployed to manage the crowd, but no reports of injuries or arrests have emerged so far.
The eviction order, officials say, is part of a broader plan to clear encroachments and regularise land use in the area.
Community leaders, however, argue that the move threatens livelihoods and displaces families without adequate rehabilitation.
Negotiations between the protestors and the administration are reportedly ongoing, with both sides seeking a peaceful resolution.
