Electricity supply has been reinstated in many areas of Gurugram following a strike over a private licence that had caused widespread blackouts.
Power utilities reported that electricity has been switched back on in a large part of Gurugram after a brief but disruptive strike. The stoppage was triggered by a dispute over a private licence, which led to extensive blackouts across residential and commercial zones.
Authorities said crews worked through the night to clear the blockage and restore supply, prioritising critical services such as hospitals and traffic signals. By early morning, most neighborhoods reported stable voltage and normal service levels.
Residents expressed relief as lights returned, while businesses noted a quick resumption of operations. Officials have warned that the underlying licence issue will be examined to prevent a recurrence, and monitoring teams remain on standby.
