The Mizoram government will launch the fourth phase of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY‑IV) in November, covering 45 new rural road projects across the state.
Mizoram's Public Works Department announced that the fourth phase of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY‑IV) will be inaugurated in November. The rollout will encompass 45 road projects aimed at improving connectivity in remote villages and facilitating the movement of goods and people.
The selected projects span several districts, targeting areas that have long lacked all‑weather road access. Under the central scheme, the state will receive funding and technical support to construct and upgrade roads that meet national standards.
State officials said the initiative aligns with Mizoram's broader development agenda, which prioritises rural infrastructure to boost agriculture, tourism and local livelihoods. Once completed, the new roads are expected to reduce travel time, lower transportation costs, and enhance access to health and education services.
The launch ceremony is slated for November, with senior officials from the Ministry of Rural Development expected to attend. Detailed project lists and timelines will be released by the state government in the coming weeks.
Stakeholders, including local panchayats and community groups, have been consulted to ensure that the road alignments meet local needs and minimize environmental impact.
