Police encounter leads to arrest of two suspects in Nitin murder case in Meerut

Police officials in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, reported that a routine patrol resulted in an armed encounter during which two individuals wanted in the Nitin murder investigation were seized. The suspects were identified as part of a list of persons of interest compiled by the state crime branch after the 2023 killing of a local businessman named Nitin.

According to the police, the confrontation occurred in the city limits and ended without civilian casualties. Both suspects were taken into custody and handed over to the Meerut district police for further interrogation.

A senior police spokesperson said the arrest marks a significant breakthrough in a case that has remained unsolved for months. The authorities indicated that the detainees will face charges of murder, conspiracy and illegal possession of firearms, and will appear before a local court shortly.
