A painter was fatally injured when a car struck him inside the Khajrana Ganesh Temple complex in Indore; the driver fled and the victim later died in hospital.
The Khajrana Ganesh Temple complex in Indore became the scene of a tragic hit‑and‑run on Tuesday when a painter was hit by a moving car as he was exiting the temple cafeteria. The victim, identified as painter Arun Nagle, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to M.Y. Hospital for emergency treatment.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver did not stop after the collision. Instead, the vehicle sped away from the temple premises, leaving Nagle unattended on the ground. Bystanders provided first aid until paramedics arrived.
Nagle was admitted to the intensive care unit, but his condition deteriorated despite medical efforts, and he succumbed to his injuries later that day. Local police have opened an investigation, registering a case of culpable homicide and attempting to trace the fleeing driver through CCTV footage and witness statements.
Authorities have appealed to the public for any information that could help identify the vehicle and its driver. The incident has raised concerns about traffic safety around crowded religious sites in the city.
