The second day of the Seven Sisters’ Cultural Meet 2026 was inaugurated today by Mizoram’s Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar. The ceremony marked the continuation of a week‑long showcase that brings together performers from the seven northeastern states of India.

Artists from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura took the stage to present folk dances, music and traditional crafts, underscoring the rich cultural mosaic of the region. Organisers said the program aims to foster mutual understanding and promote the unique heritage of each state.

Speaking at the event, Minister Hmar emphasized that such cultural gatherings are vital for boosting tourism in the Northeast, encouraging visitors to explore the area’s natural beauty alongside its vibrant traditions. He urged the audience to support local artisans and preserve indigenous art forms.

The meet will continue with additional performances, workshops and exhibitions over the coming days, offering both residents and tourists a comprehensive glimpse of the Seven Sisters’ cultural legacy.
