Man Dies After Swallowing Poison During Dispute at In-Laws' Home in Amritsar

A young man who visited his in‑laws’ house in Amritsar to collect his wife swallowed a toxic substance during an argument and later died while receiving medical care.
A young man travelled to his in‑laws’ residence in Amritsar with the intention of taking his wife back home. While at the house, a heated dispute broke out between him and members of the family.
During the altercation, the man reportedly ingested a poisonous drug. Bystanders called emergency services and he was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Medical staff administered antidotes and supportive care, but the victim’s condition deteriorated rapidly, and he was pronounced dead while under treatment.
Local police have opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the ingestion and to ascertain whether any criminal liability exists.
