Police in Alwar, Rajasthan, detained a suspect for producing a deep‑fake video of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, uncovering alleged connections to Pakistan.

Police in Alwar, Rajasthan, have taken into custody a man accused of fabricating a deep‑fake video that portrayed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister in a misleading context. The suspect was apprehended after authorities traced the digital file to a local workstation and identified the source of the manipulation.

The fabricated video, created using artificial‑intelligence tools, was circulated on social media platforms, prompting concerns over misinformation and potential political fallout. Investigators confirmed that the content was entirely synthetic and bore no factual basis.

Further probing revealed alleged communication between the arrested individual and persons based in Pakistan, suggesting a cross‑border element to the cyber‑crime. Rajasthan police have forwarded the case to the cyber cell and are coordinating with national security agencies to assess any broader threats.

The suspect now faces charges under the Information Technology Act for creating and disseminating false digital content, as well as provisions related to unlawful foreign connections. Authorities have warned that similar deep‑fake operations will be pursued rigorously to safeguard public discourse.
