On Putrada Ekadashi, the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain performed a special ash Aarti, dressing Baba Mahakal with Panchamrit abhishek and ornate ornaments including bhang, sun, moon, trident, triple eyes, silver crown and garland.

Ujjain's historic Mahakaleshwar Temple observed the auspicious Putrada Ekadashi on Sunday morning with a specially arranged ash Aarti. Devotees gathered as priests prepared the sanctum for the ritual, which is considered especially potent for couples seeking offspring.

During the ceremony, Baba Mahakal was anointed with Panchamrit – a mixture of milk, curd, honey, ghee and sugar – and then adorned with a series of symbolic ornaments. The deity was embellished with bhang leaves, representations of the sun and moon, a trident, the iconic triple‑eye motif, a silver crown and a traditional mund mala.

The resonant chant of "Jai Shri Mahakal" echoed through the temple precincts, amplifying the devotional atmosphere. Such elaborate decorations are customary on major Hindu festivals, underscoring the temple's role as a focal point of spiritual fervour in Madhya Pradesh.

The ritual concluded with the priests offering the ash‑infused offerings to the assembled crowd, who received prasad before dispersing. The event highlights the continued cultural relevance of Mahakaleshwar as a pilgrimage centre during key religious observances.
