BJP state president Nitin Nirav launched a free‑registry drive in Indore, granting land‑ownership documents to 5 million people without stamp duty, a move hailed by the chief minister as a festive financial boost.
Indore witnessed the inauguration of a large‑scale land‑registry campaign on Thursday, led by Madhya Pradesh BJP president Nitin Nirav. The scheme, part of the state’s ownership plan, promises to issue free registration documents to five million eligible beneficiaries, eliminating the usual stamp‑duty charge.
Under the initiative, the government will directly transfer ownership rights to the listed families, thereby formalising their claim over the land they occupy. Officials said the waiver of stamp fees removes a major financial barrier for low‑income households, allowing them to secure legal title without additional expense.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, present at the launch, described the move as a "Money Holi‑Diwali" for the people, emphasizing that the timing aligns with the festive season when financial relief is most welcomed. He urged the beneficiaries to complete the required documentation promptly to benefit from the scheme.
The rollout will be coordinated through local revenue offices across the state, with a focus on rural districts where land‑ownership disputes are common. Authorities have set up a help‑desk in Indore to assist applicants in completing the registration process.
