On Raksha Bandhan, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced a transfer of more than ₹2,148 crore to over 1.25 crore women beneficiaries under the Ladli Bahna scheme.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav used the Raksha Bandhan occasion to launch the 39th instalment of the Ladli Bahna Yojana, directing a cash transfer of over ₹2,148 crore to women across the state. The disbursement targets more than 1.25 crore female beneficiaries who are enrolled in the scheme, which aims to improve financial security for women and promote gender equity.
The transfer will be credited directly to the bank accounts of the eligible women, ensuring swift access to the funds. State officials said the amount represents the largest single‑day payout under the Ladli Bahna programme to date.
The move is being presented as a special Raksha Bandhan gift, underscoring the government's focus on women’s empowerment while aligning with the cultural significance of the festival. The administration expects the funds to support household expenses, education, health and small‑scale entrepreneurial activities among the beneficiaries.
The Ladli Bahna Yojana, launched in 2015, has progressively increased its coverage and payout levels. With this latest tranche, the state government reaffirms its commitment to financial inclusion and social welfare for women in Madhya Pradesh.
