A leopard walked into a hospital in Chhattisgarh, wounded a female patient and took shelter in a washroom, prompting a five‑hour rescue operation.

A leopard entered the premises of a government hospital in Chhattisgarh early on Monday, startling staff and patients alike. The animal attacked a woman who was waiting in the outpatient area, causing injuries that required immediate medical attention.

After the initial encounter, the leopard fled into a washroom on the ground floor, where it remained concealed for several hours. Hospital authorities quickly cordoned off the affected sections and called the state forest department for assistance.

Rescue teams, including forest officials and local police, arrived on the scene and began a careful operation to coax the animal out. Using tranquilizers and sound devices, they managed to subdue the leopard after approximately five hours, after which it was safely relocated to a wildlife sanctuary.

The injured woman was taken to the emergency ward and is reported to be in stable condition. Hospital officials said they are reviewing security protocols to prevent similar wildlife intrusions in the future.
