The Jharkhand High Court issued an interim order staying the state government's move to cancel the JSSC-CGL examination, allowing the test to proceed as scheduled.

The Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday delivered a stay order against the state government's decision to scrap the Jharkhand Subordinate Service Commission's Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) exam. The court's interim relief means that candidates who have already registered for the test can continue to appear as per the original schedule.

The state government had earlier announced the cancellation, citing administrative concerns, but did not provide detailed justification. Legal counsel for the aspirants argued that the abrupt decision would jeopardise the career prospects of thousands of candidates who had prepared for the competitive examination.

The bench, while not passing a final judgment on the merits of the cancellation, emphasized the need for the government to follow due process before withdrawing a recruitment exam. It directed the department to maintain the status quo until a full hearing is conducted.

The decision has been welcomed by student groups and civil service aspirants across Jharkhand, who view the stay as a safeguard for their employment opportunities. The matter will now proceed to a detailed hearing where both sides can present evidence and arguments.

The JSSC-CGL exam, a key gateway to various state-level administrative positions, is slated to be conducted later this month, pending any further legal developments.
