A delegation of Madhya Pradesh State Police Service officers met the chief minister, urging acceleration of IPS promotions and proposing measures such as non‑cadre appointments, increased deputation slots and a one‑time exemption.

A group of senior officers from the Madhya Pradesh State Police Service (MPSPS) met Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Bhopal to press for a swifter promotion pathway to the Indian Police Service (IPS). The officials highlighted delays in the existing promotion process and requested the government’s intervention to expedite the transition.

During the discussion, the delegation suggested three specific reforms: opening non‑cadre positions for eligible officers, expanding opportunities for deputation to other departments, and introducing a one‑time exemption to address long‑standing grievances. They argued that these steps would improve morale and retain experienced talent within the police force.

Chief Minister Chouhan responded positively, assuring that the state will review the promotion mechanism and consider the proposals. He pledged to coordinate with the Home Department and relevant authorities to ensure that any approved measures are implemented promptly, signalling the government's commitment to address the concerns of its police cadre.
