The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a ₹20,000‑crore investment, backed by new policies and upgraded infrastructure, to transform Indore into a leading textile hub.
Indore, the commercial heart of central India, is poised to regain its historic moniker of "Fabric City" after the state unveiled a massive investment package.
The Madhya Pradesh government has earmarked ₹20,000 crore for a comprehensive textile hub programme that includes modern textile parks, upgraded logistics, and policy incentives designed to lure manufacturers.
Officials say the initiative will revive Indore's legacy as a textile centre, generate thousands of jobs and boost exports, positioning the city alongside established clusters such as Surat and Tirupur.
Implementation will be phased, starting with critical infrastructure upgrades—roads, power supply and water resources—to create a business‑friendly environment for both domestic and foreign investors.
The move aligns with national efforts to strengthen India's textile sector and reduce dependence on imports.
