India's Economic Growth to Slow Sharply Amid Weak Investment and Oil Shock, Reuters Poll

A Reuters poll projects a sharp slowdown in India's GDP growth for the fiscal year, citing weak investment and an oil price shock as key factors.

The latest Reuters poll indicates that India’s gross domestic product growth is set to decelerate sharply in the coming fiscal year. Analysts point to a slump in private and public investment as the main driver behind the slowdown.

In addition, a recent spike in global oil prices has increased import costs, putting further pressure on the economy’s growth trajectory.

The poll’s median forecast shows growth falling to around 6.5% from the 7.2% projected in the previous year, marking a significant dip.

Economic experts warn that unless investment levels rebound and oil prices stabilize, the slowdown could deepen, affecting employment and fiscal balances.

The government has announced measures to stimulate investment, but market sentiment remains cautious amid global uncertainties.
