The Himachal Pradesh government announced it will buy back the Dhaulasidh hydro‑electric project from state‑run SJVN for a total of 800 crore rupees.

The Himachal Pradesh cabinet, led by the chief minister, confirmed that the state will repurchase the Dhaulasidh hydro‑electric project from SJVN, the centrally owned power utility. The transaction is valued at 800 crore rupees, reflecting the government's intent to bring the asset under direct state control.

Under the agreement, SJVN will transfer ownership of the project to the Himachal Pradesh government, which plans to integrate the plant's output into the state’s power grid. The chief minister highlighted that the move aims to ensure better management of local resources and to boost the region’s renewable energy capacity.

While financial details beyond the purchase price were not disclosed, officials indicated that the buy‑back will support ongoing efforts to meet the state's electricity demand and reduce reliance on external power sources. The deal is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks, subject to standard regulatory approvals.
