New Delhi – In the latest phase of the bilateral ‘War Exercise 2026’, Indian Army personnel and United States Army soldiers carried out live firing of the M777 lightweight howitzer at the Mahajan Field Firing Range. The exercise, held under joint command, allowed both forces to demonstrate the gun’s precision and mobility in a controlled environment.
The participating units focused on coordinated artillery fire, target acquisition, and rapid repositioning, aiming to sharpen interoperability between the two militaries. Training officers from both sides reported that the drill provided valuable insights into each other’s operational procedures and helped standardise communication protocols.
Officials described the event as a step forward in deepening defence cooperation, emphasizing that regular joint exercises enhance readiness for any future contingency. The M777 howitzer, known for its air‑transportability, was showcased as a key asset for combined operations.
