IMD Issues Red Alert for Very Heavy Rainfall in Uttarakhand, Char Dham Yatra Suspended

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for very heavy rainfall across Uttarakhand. In view of the adverse weather, the Char Dham Yatra has been temporarily suspended.
The IMD's red alert signifies extremely heavy rainfall expected in the state, with potential for flooding and landslides. Authorities have warned residents and pilgrims to avoid travel to vulnerable areas and to follow safety advisories.
In response to the alert, the Uttarakhand government announced the temporary suspension of the Char Dham Yatra, which normally draws thousands of devotees to the shrines of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. Pilgrims already on the route are being advised to return to safe locations.
Relief and disaster management teams have been placed on standby to assist with any emergencies arising from the weather conditions. The situation is being monitored continuously by the IMD and state authorities.
