The India Meteorological Department has warned of intense and erratic weather as the southwest monsoon interacts with a cyclonic circulation, potentially affecting large parts of the country.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather advisory highlighting the risk of wild conditions as the seasonal southwest monsoon meets a cyclonic circulation over the Indian subcontinent. This interaction is expected to generate sudden, heavy rainfall, strong gusty winds and frequent thunderstorms across a wide swath of the country. IMD officials have cautioned that such weather can quickly lead to flash floods, waterlogging and landslides, especially in low‑lying and hilly regions. The agency urges state disaster management authorities to activate response plans, and advises the public to stay updated with forecasts, avoid non‑essential travel in vulnerable zones and secure property against possible damage. Continuous monitoring will be maintained, and further updates will be issued as the system evolves.
