Police in Gurugram arrested the accused in a biker hit‑and‑run case after charging him with attempted murder. Investigators said the suspect tried to flee by claiming he needed to use the restroom.
Gurugram police on Tuesday took into custody the man accused of a hit‑and‑run that left a biker injured, filing an attempted‑murder charge against him. The arrest followed a series of inquiries that linked the suspect to the incident that occurred earlier this month on a busy stretch of the city’s road network.
According to a statement released by the Gurugram police, the accused attempted to escape the scene by telling officers he needed to urinate. The claim was dismissed as a ruse, prompting officers to detain him on the spot.
The hit‑and‑run case, which has drawn public attention, involved the victim being struck by a vehicle and subsequently abandoned without assistance. While details of the victim’s condition remain limited, the police have confirmed that the suspect’s actions meet the criteria for an attempted‑murder prosecution.
Investigators said the suspect will appear before a local magistrate within the next 48 hours, where bail and further legal proceedings will be determined. The police have urged any witnesses to come forward to aid the ongoing investigation.
