A clip that spread on social media claiming illegal migrants were hoisting Bangladeshi flags was verified by India Today as a staged film shoot.
A short video circulated widely on Indian social platforms, prompting users to allege that it captured illegal migrants raising Bangladeshi flags in a public space. The clip quickly amassed thousands of shares and comments, fueling heated debate about cross‑border migration.
India Today’s fact‑checking team examined the footage and traced its origin to a film production. Frame‑by‑frame analysis showed staged lighting, camera angles and background props consistent with a controlled set rather than an on‑location shoot. No independent evidence of actual migrants was found in the video.
The outlet concluded that the material was part of a scripted scene, not a real‑time demonstration by undocumented workers. It cautioned readers against sharing unverified content that could inflame communal sensitivities.
The clarification underscores the need for careful verification of viral media, especially on topics that touch on immigration and national security.
No further details about the film’s title or production house were disclosed in the fact‑check report.
