Vote Counting Begins for Tripura Tribal Council Village Committee Elections

Election officials in Tripura have commenced the counting of votes cast in the recent village committee polls organized by the state’s tribal council. The counting is being carried out at designated centers across the tribal regions, with ballot boxes opened under the supervision of senior officers to ensure procedural integrity.

The village committee elections are a component of the tribal council’s mandate to empower local self‑government in tribal areas. Candidates contested for seats that will represent individual villages within the council, a structure designed to address community-specific issues and development needs.

Authorities have affirmed that the counting process will be transparent and that results are expected to be announced shortly after verification. The outcome will determine the composition of the council’s village committees for the upcoming term, influencing local administration and resource allocation in the tribal belt.
