Unidentified drones hovered over Amritsar airport, prompting authorities to reroute seven flights for the day.
Unidentified drones were sighted hovering over the airspace of Amritsar International Airport early this morning, causing a temporary disruption to normal flight operations.
In response, airport security and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued an immediate advisory, leading to the rerouting of seven scheduled flights to alternate airports.
The affected flights, which included both domestic and international services, were diverted to nearby airports such as Chandigarh and Ludhiana, with passengers being rebooked on later services.
Airport officials confirmed that no injuries were reported and that the drones were not linked to any known aviation incidents. Investigations are underway to identify the operators and prevent future occurrences.
